Also, many thanks to Andy for capturing this fantastic image of the Flying Scotsman as it sped through the county on its way to London Paddington.

It's all there in black and white

Exhibition of mono photography at The Regal, Port Street Evesham

Evesham's arthouse style cinema, The Regal, hosts the 2019 BPC summer exhibition of black and white images which depict an original mono movie.

Club Members: Ann, Graham, Steve, Tony and Angela submitted a total of 15 images, each one superbly executed, capturing the essence of their chosen film, which dated from the 1920's (Metropolis) to 1990's (Schindler's List).

The official opening event, held on Sunday 2nd June, proved to be a hugely popular event with all of the photographers present, models from some of the works and friends, family and acquaintances, all keen to see the work.

The Regal owners, Sue and Ian Wiper, were part of it and have bought Tony's image based on David Lean's 'Brief Encounter' which will grace the Regal's walls for the foreseeable future.

A 'People's Choice' vote for the most popular images was held at the opening event - one person, one vote with Angela winning both first and second prizes for her images based on the 1948 version of Crichton's 'Oliver Twist' and the 1951 David Lean comedy for Ealing Studios, 'The Lavender Hill Mob'.  Tony was awarded third prize for his image of another David Lean film, the love story, 'Brief Encounter' (not Close Encounter, which is a totally different thing altogether!).

BPC is in talks with Evesham Festival of Words and The Regal to find a suitable theme for a 2020 return to the cinema as part of next year's Festival.
